Muscle Building Supplements
General Info March 1st, 2009It’s a known fact that the supplement industry has always been a little dubious when it comes to exaggerating the effectiveness of their products.
They sell hundreds of brands of pills and potions touted as ‘The Most Powerful Muscle Builder In Existence’ or words to that effect. …
..So underneath the snappy marketing and packing, do these things work as they say?
Many of these products are basically garbage – cheap blends of herbs wrapped up in shiny packaging that do very little for you!
People desperate to gain muscle or lose fat spend their money on pointless supplements all the time. You’ll do whatever it takes to reach your goals if it means a few pounds of muscle gain or fat loss, so you’re an easy target and likely to shell out on a product to see if it helps. Maybe a month or so later, you’ve followed the usage to the letter and trained hard but gotten nowhere, and you’re kicking yourself for believing that the ‘Magic Formula’ you bought was ever going to work.
Well, millions of people (myself included) have paid for supplements that were never going to work, because it’s easy to get roped into the marketing ploys when you’re so eager to put on muscle.
They play on peoples desperation when it comes to advertising these products, they know that there are countless people out there who will pay anything to help get the body they want.
So, which supplements keep their promises and actually work? Let’s take a look at some, but before we do, I thought I’d mention that I’ve reviewed a great muscle building guide which provides an extensive insight into training, diet and most relevently, supplementation. You can view it here.
Whey Protein Powder
The bigget seller in the supplement industry is by far the most useful and best value. Why? Well, whey is a real food source, unlike most supplements on the market, and the food that we eat plays the biggest part in building a physique. Protein is very important for new muscle tissue growth, and the repair of existing muscle – whey powder is practically all protein. It is most effective when used first thing in the morning upon waking and immediately following a workout, the reason being that gettting protein to the muscles is important at these times and whey is absorbed very rapidly by the body.
Take a look at this link for a look at how Whey Powder can be used in a diet.
Multi-Vitamin
We get them from our food sources and life is impossible without them, they’re also available in a concentrated form as a supplement. Somebody with a decent diet shouldn’t have the need to take a Multi-Vitamin as they will recieve enough vitamins from their food sources. For somebody who is regularly training, they will require an additional vitamin source to help with recovery, so a Multi-Vitamin would be used. Virtually all Bodybuilders, and many other athletes, will supplement their vitamin intake daily with a Multi-Vitamin.
